We now have two qualified youth workers on the team. Youth work isn't the same as therapy. It's relaxed and informal, and you decide what happens.
Our youth workers will listen, have a laugh with you, help you work things out, and back you up when life gets tough. You choose what to talk about and how much you want to get involved.
Our Youth Workers have specialist training to support sanctuary seekers and migrant communities. Jesse has also trained with The National Youth Agency to complete their Digital Youth Work Qualification.
You'll find our youth workers at WeGame and at the Thursday young people's sessions.
Our youth workers
Jesse Ridley, Lead Youth Worker. Supports young people at WeGame and our young people's sessions, and from 2026/27 will lead our outreach and targeted youth work. Qualified in digital youth work.
Lauren Ridley, Youth Worker and CEO. Trained in trauma-informed practice.
Their youth work training was funded by the West Oxfordshire Youth Partnership, and both hold enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding training.
How youth workers can help
- Someone to talk to, without judgement
- Building confidence and making friends
- Worries about school, home or the future
- Activities, trips and pilot projects
- Finding the right support, including therapy when you need it
- Speaking up for you with school or other services, if you want us to
Youth outreach
We're starting to take youth work out into the community. Our youth workers will be out and about in town centres, parks and at local events across Carterton and Witney, meeting young people where they already hang out.
It's for young people who aren't in touch with any services, including those who are out of school. Nobody should have to walk through a door to get support.
Starting in 2026/27, led by Jesse Ridley, alongside targeted youth work with young people who need extra support.
We'll start at Carterton Family Centre on Thursdays, with more locations to follow.
Who it is for
Any young person in West Oxfordshire who could do with a friendly face and someone to listen.
No referral needed: just come to a drop-in, or ask a parent, school or GP to get in touch.
Schools and professionals
If you know an area or group of young people we should be reaching, we'd love to hear from you.
